The SCSC was formed in 1971

South Canterbury Sun Club is a small member run club located in rural South Canterbury.
We established our club grounds at the old Tripp Settlement school 25 odd years ago, and we have been developing it since. We are surrounded by tall hedges and beyond that is farmland, so it is very sheltered and has a microclimate all of it own, its the perfect spot to get away from it all, to unwind and really relax. Mostly all you will hear is the sound of birds and farm animals. We are far enough out of town to be completely private, but still close enough to pop in for a coffee or get supplies. Geraldine is 12km away, about 15mins, has everything you'd expect in a small country town, supermarket, petrol station, eateries, pub, cafes, etc]
Woodbury is even closer, 6km, with an awesome wee country cafe. Easy biking distance, and its flat. The original old school serves as our Clubhouse where we hold gatherings, social events, meetings etc. There is a kitchen with most electrical appliances and utensils associated with catering for individual or group meals. There is also a gas range and oven. We have a swimming pool (not heated) which is maintained for members use over the summer months. Supervision of children is the responsibility of their respective Parents/Caregivers.
We have a Petanque Piste, and we often play games like Kubb on the lawns in summer. There are separate Toilet and Shower Blocks with the later having gas and solid fuel heated water. Laundry facilities are located in the Shower Block.
